Removals Rugby

Rugby borough grew faster than anywhere else in the West Midlands between the 2011 and 2021 censuses. Much of that growth sits on the edge of town, at Houlton on the old Rugby Radio Station site, while much of the older housing dates from the Victorian railway boom. For removals in Rugby, the age of the street shapes moving day more than the size of the house.

St Andrew's Church in Rugby town centre with its square stone tower and tall spire, in the area covered by Simple Removals & Logistics Rugby removals
The town centre sits on a hill above the River Avon, around a Clock Tower built in 1887. High Street and Sheep Street were pedestrianised in the 1980s, so flats above the shops there have no kerbside stop outside the door. West of the centre, New Bilton's Victorian terraces were built for cement and brick workers, beneath the 400-foot Cemex works.

Behind the van is a family-run business, Simple Removals & Logistics, operating from Harlestone Grange on the western edge of Northampton. Goods in Transit insurance protects your furniture and boxes while they're loaded, driven and unloaded. Public Liability insurance covers damage to the homes you're leaving and moving into.

Rugby Moves Planned Around Parking and Access

Most of the planning for a Rugby move happens before the van leaves Northampton. These are the checks we make on every job.
  • The parking zone at both addresses, so any bay suspension or dispensation is applied for in time
  • Where the van can legally stop when your front door faces a pedestrian street or a footpath
  • Which vehicle suits the road, so a large van isn't sent down a street it can't turn in
  • Stairs, landings and lift access at flats, so the crew is the right size on the day
  • An arrival time that keeps the team out of the worst of the rush hour

Looking for Removal Companies in Rugby?

Logistics is Rugby's largest business sector, according to the borough council's economic strategy. So you'll see plenty of vans in town. A van on its own isn't a removals plan.

Comparing removal companies in Rugby? The useful differences sit in the paperwork. Look for a written fixed price, insurance cover you can name, and a straight answer on who arranges parking. We confirm each of those on paper ahead of booking, so there's nothing to negotiate on the doorstep.

The Drive From Our Northampton Depot to Rugby

Harlestone Grange sits just off the A428, and that road runs all the way to Rugby. The town is around 20 miles from our depot, past the Althorp estate, round West Haddon and Crick, then over the M1 at junction 18. On most days the drive takes about half an hour.

Coventry lies 11.5 miles west of Rugby, with the A428 carrying on there too, so a move between the two towns is a short trip.

Access Conditions Across Rugby's Neighbourhoods

Rugby has grown in three distinct waves, and each one has left its own access conditions behind.

Railway-era streets and permit zones

Rugby's population roughly doubled between 1861 and 1901, and by then about one in five residents worked on the railways. Warwickshire County Council now runs resident permit zones across the inner streets, including Murray Road, Oxford Street, Railway Terrace and Avon Street. Those bays are for permit holders, so a booked suspension is what keeps space clear for the van.

Old village cores and 1960s estates

Bilton, Hillmorton, Brownsover and Newbold-on-Avon were separate villages until they became part of Rugby in 1932. Bilton gained the Admirals and Woodlands estates in the 1960s, and Brownsover was built up through the 1960s and 70s beside the A426 Leicester Road. On estates of this age, we check turning space and the walk from van to door at the survey.

Houlton and the new edges of town

Houlton is planned for 6,200 homes, and its first residents moved in during December 2017. A 1.5-mile link road opened in 2019, giving access to the town without driving through Hillmorton. Together with the South West Rugby extension, it is set to add over 11,000 homes. Some roads are newer than the maps in a sat-nav, so we confirm the plot and site entrance beforehand.

Rugby Removals FAQs

Yes, with the council's agreement. Warwickshire County Council can grant a dispensation at its discretion, for £15 per space per day, so the van can wait in the bay while we load. Suspending a bay instead costs £60 to arrange, with an extra £15 a day for each pay and display space. A suspension needs seven days' notice or more, and the council can refuse one it considers unsafe.

Four to six weeks is a sensible lead time for a standard house move. Fridays and month-end dates are booked up first, so give more notice if your completion lands on one of those.

Yes. Where the street is pedestrianised, we park at the nearest legal point and allow extra time and crew for the carry. The video survey shows us the stairs, any shared hallway and the route out to the van.

Yes. Commercial moves can run in the evening, at weekends or overnight, so the working week is barely interrupted. Tell us about server racks or other sensitive equipment at the survey, and we'll confirm how it travels.

No. The drive over from Harlestone Grange is built into your fixed price, so you won't see a separate travel or mileage line on the quote.

Cover applies when damage results from our own negligence. Our terms exclude damage that was already there and anything you boxed up yourself. Faults in appliances or electronics are excluded too, unless our handling caused them. Booking our packers for breakables avoids the self-packed exclusion.
